Oil Can XS650
The first time we’ve been asked to do a promotional build for a company. @oilcangrooming asked us to build a bike for them to promote their grooming products. Left with rough ideas we set to work on an XS650 hardtail. With very little influence artistically (the way we like it) I could think up some interesting ideas for their brand bike. The whole machine was based on the old Austin brass headlight I bought that summer at Beau Leigh auto jumble. The burnt orange colour was used on their first product (iron horse beard oil) so we used this influence for the build. I decided to hide all the electrics into a vintage fire extinguisher which I had in the shop.
Tight doesn’t quite cut it…sardine can might just. still we got it all in. I used a 10 L jerry can that we had painted up to look like the original Iron horse can the company produced. This was mounted to the side as a spare fuel can and removable promotional tool. The brass light was complimented by brass grips and rear lights by @Jugaad. Finally, the paint was superbly air brushed by Debs @ringocustomdesigns with the oil can logo and a map commemorating the trip I took to deliver the bike to Biarritz stopping of at the D day beaches on route. A truly humbling moment.
